Wouldn’t it be nice if the Nets were able to reunite with Jeff Green? Although he was only in Brooklyn for one year, he left a lasting impact on the organization.

The Nets parted ways with Green during last year’s free agency and he signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the Nuggets.

Green’s averaging 10.8 points per game for Denver this season. He’s shooting 52.1% from the field (up by nearly 3% from last year) and 34.3% from the 3-point line.

The 35-year-old forward/center has fit right in with the Nuggets and is one of five players that’s averaging double-digits.

What makes Green a key target is that he’s familiar with Brooklyn’s current system. He’s played under Steve Nash and alongside Durant, Harden, and Irving. And as the regular season fades into the playoffs, he’d be a valuable veteran presence on the court and in the locker room.

Remember Game 5 of the playoffs against the Bucks?

This month alone, Green’s averaged 14.8 points over 10 games. He’s caught the eye of the Celtics, a team that he spent the majority of four seasons with. Boston’s been a disappointment in the East this year and adding Green to their roster would help to change the course of the Celtics’ season.

However, as we all know, Green would be a key piece of the Nets current agenda, which is to win a championship now. If the right opportunity arises for Brooklyn to trade for Green, the Nets should hop on it.
