Brooklyn Nets Throwback Jerseys Make Another Solid Addition to the Wardrobe
The Brooklyn Nets confirmed a few weeks back that these 1970-80s throwbacks would return this season. They feature red, white, and blue coloring with stars and stripes running vertically along the side.
During their heyday, these uniforms saw the Nets make their move from the Nassau Coliseum to New Jersey, as the lettering which now reads “Nets” formerly spelled out “New York” before the change in scenery.
Legendary Net Julius Erving made them famous though, as he wore them while dominating in the ABA, winning three MVP awards and helping the Nets secure championships in 1974 and 1976.
With 90s kids like myself recognizing this design for its place on the cover of NBA Street Vol. 2, basketball fans from all eras can appreciate it. The uniforms maintain the clean look Brooklyn enjoys with its home and away jerseys, while tipping a hat to the past. Sign me up.
