Brooklyn Nets New Statement Are Clean But Somewhat Miss the Mark

After a three year run, the Nets will move away from their grey “statement” jerseys and usher in these jet black alternate threads. The uniforms somewhat resemble the team’s sleeved alternates from the 2014-15 season but with reversed colors.

They also somewhat resemble Brooklyn’s Summer League threads. When Brooklyn indeed brings them into their wardrobe this season, Summer League standouts of the last two years Cam Thomas and Day’Ron Sharpe donning them should be a familiar site.

These jerseys are not ugly by any means, but like Brooklyn’s home and away designs, they do not exactly take any risks. The league’s partnership with the Jordan Brand resulting in the classic logo being  placed near the shoulder does look slick, but other than that, the uniforms lack character.

Perhaps time will do these threads justice though, just as it did for the team’s home/away uniforms. Likely to go with same colored shorts, they would give the Nets a Batman or Knight Rider kind of look with the excess of black coloring, which is something I can surely get behind.
