1. Donovan Mitchell

Now this one might be the most difficult to pull off due to the nature of the superstardom of Donovan Mitchell. However, he and the Cleveland Cavaliers are not close to an extension, and the Nets can use this to their advantage.

Mitchell wants to come back home to New York, and the Knicks were interested in trading for him with Utah, but the deal fell through. The Nets have a young core and the draft capital to get the deal done.

The Nets have stolen players from their crosstown rival before and this could be a perfect opportunity to do it again. Mitchell is averaging 27.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.7 steals. If the Nets can pull off this trade, they are instantly back into title contention and should be feared by other teams.

Mitchell may be traded earlier than imagined as the Cavaliers should try to get rid of him via a trade instead of losing him for nothing in free agency. The Cavaliers are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference at 17-13. However, with Evan Mobley and Darius Garland out long-term this may be what drives the needle and ignites an early retool for the Cavaliers.
