The Brooklyn Nets face the Charlotte Hornets tonight in Charlotte. While this may not be the coolest matchup on paper, stylistically, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson versus Kemba Walker will be exciting to watch.

Brooklyn Nets forward Rondae Hollis Jefferson and Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker are battling for the best shimmy shake in the NBA.

In the case of Walker, you may recall during a game against the Miami Heat in December, he celebrated his shot a second too early. The ball got an incredibly unlucky bounce, and it spit out of the rim as he began to celebrate with a shimmy. It’s worth a view; it’s very Antoine Walker-like!

Meanwhile, Hollis-Jefferson’s shimmy is a bit more conservative. In fact, he only does it at the free throw-line.

Hollis-Jefferson told Basketball Insiders Jessica Camerato that Golden State Warriors swingman he Kevin Durant was his muse.

"“I was watching KD do his little shoulder shimmy one day and I was like, ‘Let me try this,’ because I saw when he did it, it relaxes his shoulders,” Hollis-Jefferson told Basketball Insiders at the Las Vegas Summer League. “Pretty much I took it, added some ‘Rondae’ to it, and it just became a thing.“I think everything basketball-wise is muscle memory,” Hollis-Jefferson said. “Once you get something down pat and it works from you, it becomes a comfortable thing and it relaxes you. The numbers prove it.”"

RHJ is a stylish guy, so applying the shimmy to his free-throw shooting routine only accentuates his personality. Remember his NBA Draft day attire back in 2015? He told me that he got inspiration from Odell Beckham, Jr.

Tonight will be the final time the Nets and Hornets teams meet this season. Charlotte leads the season series 2-1.

There were some Nets’ heroics this season. On December 26, Randy Foye hit a three-pointer at the buzzer in the Nets’ 120-118 win at home.

NBA sportsbook TopBet lists the Hornets as the favorite for this game. The last time the Nets and the Hornets met was on January 21, when the Hornets got the W. However, both teams are currently struggling. The Hornets are on a seven-game losing streak. The Nets are coming off a 103-95 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday and could surely use the win as they hold the NBA’s worst record at  9-42.
