Brook Lopez to the Phoenix Suns

People may take a look at this trade and think it is absolutely crazy. One look at the Phoenix Suns‘ roster and see there are multiple centers who play at about the same level. Both Alex Len and Tyson Chandler have been averaging somewhere from seven to nine points per game this season. However, Chandler has been averaging double-digit rebounds throughout the season, and it has been rumored a few teams were interested in him as a backup center.

So if the Suns can send either one of the those two big men somewhere, possibly even in a deal to the Nets, can we possibly see Lopez in an orange-and-purple jersey by the end of next week? It is definitely a possibility.

We know the Suns could be enticed by a deal that sends Lopez to the Grand Canyon State, but what would the Nets need to receive, and why would Sean Marks make a deal that sends away Lopez?

An interesting idea is for the Nets to try to get Brandon Knight and the Suns’ 2018 first-round pick that they received from the Miami Heat. This seems like a nice deal on the part of the Nets. However, there is a catch with the Heat’s draft pick.

Miami’s first-round pick is protected for selections 1 to 7 in 2018 and unprotected in 2019, thanks to the three-team deal between Miami, New Orleans and Phoenix that actually occurred at the 2015 NBA Trade Deadline.

So will this trade that could potentially benefit both teams go down at the 2017 NBA Trade Deadline? It might be a bit of a stretch, but this could be a franchise-changing trade for Brooklyn.
