Analyzing Potential Draft Prospects For the Brooklyn Nets

Euro Prospects
You cannot legitimately analyze the Nets’ draft prospects without mentioning international talent. NetsDaily outlined some of the talent Marks is currently scouting over in Europe. According to a Barcelona newspaper, the Brooklyn GM was there to scout Rodian Kurucs.
Kurucs is a small forward who currently plays for Barcelona. The 19-year-old Latvian talent stands at about 6-foot-9 and weighs roughly 190 pounds. In 21 games, he has averaged 9.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21.1 minutes per game. Most mock drafts have Kurucs going somewhere in the late first round, and he is considered a likely “euro-stash.”

The other Euro talent Marks was believed to be scouting was Stefan Jovic. The 26-year-old Serbian point guard currently plays for the Red Star Belgrade. He stands at an impressive 6-foot-7 and weighs around 200 pounds. Through 22 games for Red Star this season, he has averaged 7.2 points, 6.1 assists and 1.1 steals in a little over 20 minutes per game.
Jovic is not known as a scorer, but is considered a playmaker. Last season, he dished out 19 assists in one game, setting a Euroleague record. He has won a silver medal in both the Olympics and FIBA World Cup.

As stated previously, the Nets already have many options at the point. Jeremy Lin and Isaiah Whitehead are two point guards held in high regard in Brooklyn. Spencer Dinwiddie has proven to be a very competent backup and works very well running the Nets’ second unit.
Archie Goodwin is now on his second 10-day contract, is only 22-years-old and has made it known he wants to sign with Brooklyn and be a part of their future. So one has to believe that if a point guard is selected in the upcoming draft, especially in the first round, they are a significant piece of the Nets future.
