Should the Nets have gone after another player instead of Archie Goodwin?

Sandy Mui (@sandymui1134): All the Nets’ moves this season to bring up D-League players (aside from Yogi Ferrell) have surprised me, mostly because I’ve never heard of these players. I don’t think they necessarily should have gone after a specific player instead of Archie Goodwin; I’m just surprised that’s the route they decided to go.

Considering the Long Island Nets and Brooklyn Nets practice and play in the same facilities this season, I’m a bit surprised (and disappointed) the Nets didn’t take more advantage of having a “night-and-day” player aside from the traded-Chris McCullough (I still miss you, Brisk!) bounce back and forth between the D-League and NBA. In that sense, I wish a Long Island Net got the opportunity to come up to the big leagues at some point, but what the Nets did to honor Cliff Alexander‘s and Prince Ibeh‘s commitments was also commendable.

RELATED STORY: The Present and Future of Marks’ Latest Signings

Charles Maniego (@ignisyon): When the Nets signed Archie Goodwin, I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t sign Cliff Alexander (or Jimmer Fredette or MarShon Brooks. I’m being partially serious.) Goodwin isn’t really known as a shooter. But in his games with the Nets, he’s been pretty solid. Sean Marks is proving me wrong, over and over again!

Sean Costello (@SeanBKN27): This is a tough question. We have yet to really get good enough of a look and feel for Goodwin. I really would’ve liked if they would’ve picked up Jordan McRae but there was obviously a reason behind the decision Sean Marks made to sign Goodwin. Goodwin has played well when given the opportunity so it definitely is hard to say. But one has to think, if McRae was good enough, he would be signed with a team by now, right? Hopefully, Marks didn’t make a mistake, and so far, it doesn’t seem like he did.

Charles Daye (@NotTheChuckD): Upon learning of the signing, I would have said yes. Since watching how he has played with the Nets, I now say no. I have liked what I’ve seen from Goodwin. Originally a shooting guard in college and upon entering the league, I think he can be a point guard in the modern NBA. He has the willingness and aggression on offense to draw attention. If he improves his basketball IQ when it comes to making the right pass in those situations, I think the Nets could be onto something.
