Brooklyn Nets: ranking the biggest threats to sign Milos Teodosic
4. Sacramento Kings
Vlade Divac’s pitch would be a little different than Pat Riley’s. For starters, there are no Sacramento Kings championship rings to put on the table. There is also no success that Divac created, unless you consider avoiding losing DeMarcus Cousins for nothing a success.
The Kings do have some intriguing young pieces though. Buddy Heild has loads of potential as the offensive centerpiece in Sacramento. His shooting should only improve after a rocky start in New Orleans led to a massive turnaround in the second half of the season with the Kings.
It would certainly be fun imagining a Heild-Teodosic backcourt pairing. The Kings also figure to add high-end talent in the first round of the upcoming draft. They hold the #5 and #10 picks. If the team passes on adding a point guard, Teodosic would be a fit.
There are of course drawbacks to Teodosic signing on with Sacramento.
The team has been in disarray since Divac’s playing days in the early 2000’s. Sacramento had Isaiah Thomas, Cousins and Hassan Whiteside on the same roster and yet couldn’t realize the potential of any of them.
Teodosic would get the money if he joins the Kings. He would be paid to lead a franchise out of a decade-long darkness, though. That may not be the most inviting prospect for a soon-to-be-rookie.
