Brooklyn Nets: ranking the biggest threats to sign Milos Teodosic
3. Philadelphia 76ers
Potential is in abundance in Philadelphia. Philly has the best center prospect since Hakeen Olajuwon in Joel Embiid. They have an athletic specimen in Ben Simmons. They have a versatile combo-forward in Dario Saric, a guy who put his hat in the race for 2016-17 rookie of the year with a strong finish to the season.
Could they add Teodosic to the party?
They could, but it might get in the way of the development of their young guns.
We have yet to see Simmons in an NBA game. When we do, he may be best suited to be a floor general. That happens to be Teodosic’s calling card.
CSKA Moskow’s star guard may be a 3-point marksman, shooting 38 percent this last season in the Euroleague. He may also impede Simmons’ progress.
Brett Brown may want to see what Simmons can do at the point guard spot. He should. Simmons may be a once-in-a-generation talent and could be the 6-foot-10 superova Jason Kidd wants Giannis Antekuompo to be with Milwaukee.
To meet Teodosic’s commands, we may not get that chance. The Serbian wants to run the show.
His skill set could spark the young talent in Philadelphia to reach new heights. It could also get in the way.
Teodosic may want to find an easier path to success. Being a starter and a star may be easier in a setting that isn’t congested with could-be stars. The cap space is abundant in Philly, but the opportunities may not be.
