Brooklyn Nets: the top draft choices at pick #22 of all time
1. George McGinnis
Drafted: April 24, 1973 by the Philadelphia 76ers
It seems wrong to disqualify George McGinnis from this list simply because he played his first four seasons in the American Basketball Association, after all the Nets also once called the ABA home.
McGinnis helped the Indiana Pacers capture two ABA titles in 1972 and 1973. The 76ers then had the foresight to select McGinnis in the 1973 draft in hopes of luring the uber-talented small forward to the NBA.
The gamble paid off, when McGinnis, after earning the 1974 Most Valuable Player award in the ABA, joined the Sixers. He proceeded to make three NBA All Star teams and in 1977 helped lead Philadelphia to a NBA Finals appearance. His teammate? Nets Legend, Julius Erving.
Next: Brooklyn Nets big board 2.0
This past April, McGinnis was recognized for his impressive career that saw him average 20.2 points-per-game, 11 rebounds-per-game, and three assists-per-game when he was selected for induction into the Class of 2017 Basketball Hall of Fame.
A Hall of Fame small forward with the 22nd selection? The Nets brass would do cartwheels.
