Reunited and it feels so good! That is the only way to describe how DeMarre Carroll felt to be reunited with coach Atkinson. He played under Atkinson as a member of the Atlanta Falcons, where he played the best basketball of his career.

After two down seasons with the Toronto Raptors, Carroll was looking for a change of scenery and the Raptors wanted to be free of his contract. Both would get their wish, as the Nets were happy to take Carroll’s contract on, in exchange for Justin Hamilton.

So far, the Nets have been the big winners of that trade. They were able to offload a player who did not perform well for them last season in Hamilton, and get back an impact player. Carroll checks every box for the Atkinson system, which is why he was wanted so badly.

Carroll has quickly become the lifeblood of the team. His high energy play, tough defense and ability to hit a clutch shot has made him both a fan favorite and leader of the team. Carroll is the type of player that never truly has a bad game. If he is shooting poorly, he is sure to be making it up in every other facet of the game.

Out of all the additions that Marks has made to the Nets, none have been more impactful than DeMarre Carroll. He is the team’s leader and Swiss Army Knife. He is the veteran that the team needs and his production on offense and defense make him the best player Sean Marks has added to the Brooklyn Nets.
