ED DAVIS. B+. 21 MIN, 3 PTS, 7 REB (2 ORB), 2 TOV, +11. C. Brooklyn Nets

Ed Davis was who we thought he was. He rebounded well, grabbing seven boards in 21 minutes. He played tough defense and looked like the professional NBA big man he is.

He hardly ever looked for his shot, making 1-of-2, getting his only bucket on a strong cut to the rim and a feed from Jared Dudley.

Davis did struggle with the referees’ emphasis this preseason on screens — both of his turnovers were offensive foul calls for illegal screens (one was close, the other … Ed, you can’t be grabbing guys when you set a pick, man).

Davis knew where to be, when to be there and what to do once he got there. He won’t dazzle you with his play, but he is one of those players who can be counted on to do the right things when he’s called upon.
