All the best to Neil Olshey and the Trail Blazers

Dear Neil:

The Brooklyn Nets wanted to let you know that we found that backup center you left on the curb last summer and took him home.

Ed Davis seems very happy here and, wow, he’s doing some terrific things for us. and your team still seems pretty capable in the rebounding thing — seventh in offensive boards, fifth overall — so it’s not like you really miss him, do you?

Well, we do know some of your guys miss Ed (we saw the social media activity after he agreed to sign with us), but please let Damien Lillard and the others know we’re taking very good care of him.

A steady diet of backup big man minutes and all the rebounds he can eat seems to really agree with him. Did you know he’s got the best offensive rebounding percentage in the NBA right now? We got so lucky you put him out with your unwanted items last July.

Best wishes for the New Year and your quest for another playoff berth. Maybe this is the year you get a little further, or at least win a game in the first round this time around.
