The Nets would clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Kings on Friday.

As most fans likely expected ahead of the NBA restart, the Brooklyn Nets have really struggled to put together a consistent run of games. Thus far in the Bubble, interim head coach Jacque Vaughn’s side has seemingly followed up a dud with an incredible performance, and vice versa.

Look no further than how Brooklyn followed up its improbable upset win over the Milwaukee Bucks with a 34-point loss against the Boston Celtics the following night.

Well, the Nets will return to the hardwood on Friday with a chance to clinch a playoff berth in a compelling matchup versus the Sacramento Kings, who are undoubtedly riding high after their impressive victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The loaded NBA schedule — coupled with the New York Yankees’ coverage on YES — unfortunately means that the Nets will not be televised tonight (it’ll be rerun on YES at 10:30). It goes without saying that the production of Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen will be crucial for the Nets’ chances at winning this game. After combining for 83 points in a dub against Washington, the star trio was held to just 38 points versus Boston’s elite defense.

Luckily for Brooklyn, the Kings defense isn’t nearly as ruthless. For the season, they rank 17th in the league in terms of points allowed per game. Where the Nets may run into trouble, however, is the current form of Sacramento point guard De’Aaron Fox, who’s averaging 27.5 points and seven assists per game while shooting 50.7% from the floor since play resumed.

Fans in Brooklyn should keep tabs on the injury report leading up to tipoff. As of this writing, the team will be without Jamal Crawford, who is still recovering from a hamstring strain. Furthermore, the likes of Allen and Harris are listed as questionable with ankle and groin injuries.

Either way, expect the Nets to rely heavily on their bench yet again as they look to punch their ticket into the playoffs.
