Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie had a priceless reaction to Steve Nash becoming BKN’s head coach.

If NBA fans thought they were taken for a loop during Wednesday night’s enthralling playoff slate, we can’t even imagine their reactions to Thursday morning’s bombshell.

The Brooklyn Nets’ coaching search, which apparently conducted its first official interview with Jacque Vaughn just 48 hours earlier, came to an abrupt and shocking conclusion when it was reported that they inked Hall of Fame point guard Steve Nash to a four-year contract to become their next head coach.

It goes without saying that this news blindsided fans in Brooklyn as the Nets kept their interest in 46-year-old behind closed doors. While the highly-anticipated responses from Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the former of who is extremely close with and fond of Nash, are still looming, one member of the team managed to give us a priceless reaction to the news.

Nets fans will obviously love this tweet from Spencer Dinwiddie.

Though we would argue that Caris LeVert is Brooklyn’s third star, we see no lies here as NBA pundits have been imploring the franchise to sign/trade for a third star to play alongside Durant and Irving. To the surprise of literally everybody but general manager Sean Marks, that star — in terms of proven track record and national recognition — came in the form of their new head coach.

Across 18 seasons, Nash won two MVPs, went to eight All-Star Games, and was a part of eight All-NBA teams. He led the league in assists five times and was rightfully voted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 in his first year of eligibility. For his career, the former No. 15 overall pick averaged 14.3 points and 8.5 assists per game with .490/.428/.904 shooting splits.

To call Nash a basketball icon would be an understatement, and, despite his glaring lack of coaching experience, you can bet that he will bring another element of star power to Brooklyn next campaign. As crazy as it sounds, the must-see buzz surrounding the Nets was just amplified tenfold following this news.
