Brooklyn Nets: Caris LeVert has highest praise for Kyrie Irving and KD
By Adam Weinrib
Even though it’s very clear the Rockets didn’t benefit nearly enough in the James Harden trade, the Brooklyn Nets still needed to make a significant sacrifice to acquire The Beard.
Fans in BK didn’t get a chance to regret surrendering Caris LeVert too much, despite his advanced skill set and silky-smooth game. After all, without the pre-trade physical, LeVert’s cancerous kidney mass may not have been noticed so quickly.
Bottom line, both sides are doubtlessly happy now. The Nets have Harden in the fold, and he’s become their most essential player, and LeVert has returned to Indianapolis in flames, averaging 20.2 points per game this season in 30 starts with the Pacers.
He left Brooklyn feeling nothing but appreciation from the fans in the borough, and the feeling is definitely mutual.
In fact, if you ask LeVert, Nets fans are currently watching the most skilled player of all time and the most skilled player he’s ever seen, relative to his size, at the exact same time.
LeVert guested on The Long Shot Podcast with Heat star Duncan Robinson and Davis Reid this week, and gave Kyrie Irving the accolade of the century (with Kevin Durant not far behind).
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is Caris LeVert’s “most skilled player”.
“I would say Kyrie is the most skilled player of all time. And then I’d say, like, pound for pound or for size, Kevin Durant is the most skilled player. I don’t think we’ve seen a seven-footer be able to do what Kevin does,” LeVert shared with the hosts.
Nitpick his praise for Irving all you want, but Brooklyn Nets fans have bore witness to the point guard yo-yo’ing the ball to his heart’s content while being able to slither to the rim like he’s motorized. Durant may be the most uniquely skilled player this game has seen at his height, but Irving regularly performs magic.
And, clearly, being their teammate — even for a season where KD was on the shelf — rubbed off on LeVert as he went on his way to a new city.
Now with a chance to take over a team and become the focal star the rookies look up to, LeVert has seized every opportunity to get better, putting up shots in the long hours after dominating a back-to-back.
Where do you think he got that from?
Skills don’t grow on trees, you know.
