The Brooklyn Nets will have their third straight home game on Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nets are 15-6, good for first place in the Eastern Conference, while the Timberwolves are 11-11 and in eighth in the Western Conference.

In this one, Brooklyn will face off against former Net D’Angelo Russell, who spent two seasons with the team from 2017-19. Russell led Brooklyn to the playoffs during the 2019 season before being dealt to the Golden State Warriors in the sign-and-trade for Kevin Durant. Since then, the two teams have experienced a big 180.

The Nets are riding off a 112-110 win over the Knicks on Tuesday night. James Harden had his strongest performance of the year and led Brooklyn with 34 points, shooting a season-high 55% from the field (11-of-20). He also added 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Kevin Durant scored 27 points in a much less efficient outing. But they got the job done.

The Timberwolves, on the other hand, fell to the Wizards on Wednesday, 115-107. Karl Anthony-Towns scored a team-high 34 points, the most for him in a game since Nov. 15. He leads Minnesota with an average of 24 points and 9 rebounds per game. This team also boasts young star Anthony Edwards in addition to veteran Patrick Beverley. They’ve won seven of their last 10 and will run into a similarly hot Nets team who have captured eight of their last 10.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves betting odds, spread, over/under

According to WynnBET, the Nets are seven-point favorites over the Timberwolves at Barclays Center. The Nets are -300 on the moneyline and the Timberwolves are +250. The over/under for the matchup is set at 220.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Timberwolves prediction

Minnesota’s looking to rebound from a tough loss in Washington, D.C. after winning two straight games. The Timberwolves will be faced with another test on the road against against a top Eastern Conference, and it’s not looking too good for them. Durant didn’t have his best game on Tuesday, shooting 9-of-23 from the field, so being the player that he is, expect him to have a big game on Friday night.

The Nets are the betting favorites here for a multitude of reasons, but Minnesota’s 4-5 road record certainly plays a role here. Additionally, Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable after taking a hard fall against the Wizards on Wednesday, which left him with a tailbone contusion.

Beverley will also be out with a left abductor strain. If Anthony-Towns doesn’t play, Brooklyn’s defense will be focused on Edwards (22.1 PPG) and Russell (18.9), making the task that much easier.

We’re taking the Nets -7 and over 220 points.

Brooklyn 120, Minnesota 102.
