Seth Curry disproves Danny Green’s alleged Ben Simmons drama
Here we go again. A few days after Philadelphia’s Danny Green said that Seth Curry and Andre Drummond weren’t “cordial” with Ben Simmons, Curry responded to his former teammate’s comments before and after the Brooklyn Nets game on Thursday.
Hours after the Nets-Sixers trade happened, Green recorded an episode of his “Inside the Green Room” podcast with co-host Harrison Sanford. The 13-year-veteran said that Simmons got the trade that he had requested but that he had ultimately “lost.”
On Wednesday, another episode of Green’s podcast was released. Sanford asked him if he believes that Simmons is going to shake hands with his old teammates on Mar. 10 in Philadelphia. Green gave a long-winded answer in which he said that he doesn’t think that Simmons will play and he added that Curry and Drummond weren’t on good terms with Simmons.
A day later, Curry disproved Green’s controversial claims and questioned why his name was brought up in the first place.
Brooklyn Nets’ Seth Curry refutes Danny Green’s comments about Ben Simmons.
Green’s exact words were:
"“Interesting dynamic of how things went down. Interesting dynamic of who went with him. I haven’t had a chance to talk to those guys yet, but I know they weren’t on the most cordial terms when he was in Philly with Drum and Seth. So I wonder how that relationship is now. I haven’t had a chance to talk to them.”"
When Curry was asked about it on Thursday after the game, he smiled when the reporter mentioned the word ‘cordial.’ Curry then referenced ESPN’s Nick Friedell, who spoke with the guard about it that morning.
Curry said to Friedell:
"“Business is business,” Curry told ESPN after Thursday’s shootaround. “I said from day [one], even when he was out early in the season, people were asking me if I feel like, if Ben comes back, should he apologize to us or whatever? I understand the business; he doesn’t need to apologize to anybody. When he’s on the court, I know he’s going to do his job and he’s going to do what he does. So I understand the business. He was doing what he felt was best for himself business-wise and personal-wise."
Curry went on to say that there’s “nothing negative he’s done to me personally” and that he’s “looking forward to getting back out there with him.”
On Twitter, Philadelphia radio show host Mike Missanelli quoted tweeted a tweet about what Green said on the podcast.
Sanford quoted tweet Missanelli’s tweet and questioned how he knew what was said in the locker room. Green’s co-host went on to call Missanelli out for “clickbait.”
But didn’t Green make a false statement when he said that Curry and Drummond didn’t have a ‘cordial’ relationship with Simmons?
Green signed with the Sixers after he won a title with the Lakers in 2020. In the 40 games that he’s played in this year, he’s averaging 6.4 points and is shooting 39.9% from the field and 37.6% from the 3-point line. He hasn’t been a fan favorite in Philadelphia, although now he could be one after stirring up this Simmons drama.
