San Antonio Spurs coaching legend Gregg Popovich’s house is on the market. Can we interest you in a Brooklyn apartment, King? Close to the Nets facility?

The Brooklyn Nets have registered their interest in luring Spurs Hall of Fame coach Gregg Popovich to the borough for weeks and weeks now.

Since the rumor first emerged, we’ve graded it on a sliding scale, registering anywhere from, “Nah” to “One Eyebrow Slightly Raised as We Edge Our Way Out Through a Doorway.”

But now, after parsing interviews from both sides delivered by GM Sean Marks and Spurs executives, which have decided to be mostly non-declarative, we finally have our first piece of real evidence that indicates a move isn’t out of the question after a “Godfather” offer.

And, in the great NBA tradition of following LeBron’s flight logs and perusing Zillo, this tidbit comes from a classic stalk-y source: Pop’s Texas house is on the market!!

Now, perhaps Popovich simply thought the time was right to leave his palatial San Antonio mansion? Career at a crossroads, probably edging close to the end of things, and a change of scenery necessary?

Orrrrrrrr (don’t stop us, we’re on a roll), he’s ready to cross the country for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Maybe he’s even asking KD and Kyrie for their input on his new home’s ambiance. Is it Feng shui to put a black obsidian couch counterclockwise from a bay window? What does Spencer Dinwiddie think?

The buzz in San Antonio has long been that they expect the 71-year-old Popovich to be in their plans next season. After all, if he intends to continue coaching, why would he acclimate himself to a new neighborhood with an unfamiliar set of expectations?

But, counterpoint: House on market! House! On! Market!

For the first time in 2020, we feel like buckling up for Popovich rumors may be appropriate for Nets fans. Keep your expectations moderate, sure, but it’s time to actually start analyzing the possibility.

Also, we’ll take the house at that price. Cash or Traveler’s cheques?
